For as long as I can remember, summer has been my least favorite season. Don’t get me wrong — I love the sunshine, the opportunity to drive with my windows down, and the different styles the season brings. Even still, as a naturally curly-haired gal, the humid climate of South Central Pennsylvania and I just do not mix.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at all the products I couldn’t live without during the summertime (and, let’s be real, the rest of the year, too).
Because I straighten my hair year-round, Garnier’s anti-frizz serum is a staple in my hair care routine. However, this product especially comes in handy when the heat index rises and the air becomes thick with humidity, as it keeps my hair in check — or at least more in check than it would be on its own. If you have naturally curly, coarse, or wavy hair, I couldn’t recommend this product enough!
Hair accessories on hair accessories
I’d like to take a moment to personally thank whoever brought hair scarves and scrunchies back into style, because these simple little pieces can make even the messiest hairstyle look like real effort was put into it. I’m a particularly big fan of H&M’s scrunchie scarves, as they’re affordable and come in a number of patterns and textures!
Also, if you’re in a hurry and your hair just isn’t cooperating, make sure you have a pack of Scunci headwraps at the ready. These no-slip headbands can add a touch of polish to any updo all while keeping your baby hairs and fly-aways at bay.
Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee
If you know me personally, you’re not surprised that Dunkin’ iced coffee made my list of must-haves for the summer. Although I have to limit my caffeine intake during pregnancy, Dunkin’ offers a half-decaf blend that’s well within the range of what I can consume in a day and doesn’t taste disgusting or watered down. If you’re interested in knowing my order, check it out below!
- Small iced original blend — half decaf
- Two (2) creams
- Two (2) sugars
- Caramel swirl
A solid playlist
Like I mentioned above, I’m a big fan of driving around with my windows down when the weather allows. And, it’s no secret that no road trip is complete without the perfect playlist. Recently, I’ve been on a major throwback kick, so I’ve been listening to everything from 2015-pop to classic Justin Timberlake. Interested in the same music? Check out my favorite Spotify playlist at the moment!
Serious style inspiration
If you read my recent blog post, How I Dress My Bump | Summer 2019, you already know that staying true to your style while growing a human being isn’t the easiest feat. So, when I’m feeling a little out of sorts or like my wardrobe needs some help, I turn to my two most-trusted sources: Pinterest and InStyle Magazine.
In my mind, Pinterest is best for making the most of the pieces you already own, while InStyle — specifically, their Instant Style feature — provides quick tips on incorporating trends into your closet, regardless of your budget.
That’ll do it for the items I can’t live without during the summertime. Got some personal faves you can’t help but share? Feel free to list them in the comments below!
