My Updated Morning Skin Care Routine: Winter 2018

December 2, 2018

Happy second day of December! This month has to be one of my favorites out of the entire year, what with all of the holiday cheer, Christmas lights, and cold weather it brings. While I may enjoy all of the blustery and snowy days, my skin certainly does not. So, I’ve recently taken the time to evaluate and update my everyday skin care regimen — that way, my skin radiates all of the excitement I hold for this season!

To learn more about my skin care routine, be sure to keep reading below!

Step #1: Cleanse

One of the first things I do every morning is cleanse my face using my (now-apparently-discontinued?) Clarisonic Mia 2. I love using the brand’s Refreshing Gel Cleanser in conjunction with the device, as it helps my skin feel thoroughly clean and rejuvenated — something it desperately needs when I’m waking up bright and early!

I’ve been using my Clarisonic since my husband, Jordan, gave it to my for my birthday in April, and I must say it’s made a tremendous difference in the clarity and tone of my skin. So, if you’re on the fence about making this particular investment, I seriously encourage you to go for it! Your skin will thank you later.

Step #2: Exfoliate

If you’re anything like me, you know how challenging it is to have oily-combination skin this time of year. However, I recently stumbled upon what, so far, has seemed like the perfect solution to my dry-skin-woes: the Philosophy Microdelivery Daily Exfoliating Wash.

This citrusy fresh cleanser is packed with exfoliating agents to scrub away impurities and provide a solution for fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. Although I haven’t been using it long enough to see a difference in the tone or elasticity of my skin, I’ll be sure to provide an update if and when I do!

Step #3: Tone

Through the years, I’ve experimented with a few different toners, but the one I love the most is definitely the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner. This product brings life back into my skin, plumping and preparing it for makeup application. Plus, it’s super gentle, meaning it can be applied to nearly every skin type.

Step #4: Moisturize

It’s important to provide even the oiliest skin with the moisture it needs to stay healthy and radiant. I mean, think about it — our skin produces excess oil to compensate for the moisture it’s not receiving. So, it’s important to apply an oil-free moisturizer before any mattifying primers or foundations.

With that in mind, I love the Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer. This gentle formula nourishes my skin, controls oil throughout the day, and blurs my pores beautifully. What more could an oily girl ask for?

Step #5: Brighten

After letting my moisturizer sink into my skin, I love applying a brightening under-eye cream. I highly recommend the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème. Not only does this product prep the under-eyes for makeup but it also works to nourish the sensitive and sometimes dull skin throughout the day. That way, you’re not just putting a band-aid over your dark circles — you’re actually remedying the underlying issue.

And that’s it! I hope I was able to provide a little bit of inspiration for those of you who are also looking to update your own skincare routines. If you have any product recommendations, be sure to leave them in the comments below!
